ThinkPad Battery PCB

from $12.00
sold out

This is the latest of the Project Butterfly Battery PCB for the IBM ThinkPad 701C. This board fits the case you can download on the project page.

The board will come fully assembled along with the new cloned chip - no original chip needed!

This is the complete board that you can use with a new battery setup. This clone has been tested with both Ni-MH and Ni-Cad batteries. Please read the following instructions before installing.

Installation & Use:

  • Any new battery/cells need to be calibrated. Before the ThinkPad will show an accurate charge level or function properly, it will need to go through a full charge/discharge cycle. Charge the battery fully until the green light turns off on its own, then unplug and let the battery fully discharge. Repeat the charge cycle and you should be good to go. You can press FN+F2 at any time to see the current charge and estimated time left.

  • The battery has been tested with Ni-Cad and Ni-MH type batteries. I do not know how the chip or laptop will behave if you use another chemistry like Lithium-ion. All of the reference chips I used were pulled from original Ni-Cad batteries.

Shipping: If you require a screw terminal, please do not select the USPS First-Class option. The screw terminals are too large to ship via letter.
